Steel Stabilizer Plates Insoles, also called Spring Steel Plate Insoles help with forefoot and midfoot injuries and long term pathology. Many practitioners are unfamilar with steel insoles. These spring steel stabilizer plates are usually full length and have a comfortable felt top cover. The steel is thin (1/8″) so it is lighweight and comfortable.
The way a steel stabilizer plate works is that it limits the amount of range of motion in the forefoot and midfoot. Many patients use a spring stabilizer plate to limit painful turf toe, arthitis in the MPJ (hallux rigidus) and to limit range of motion post bunionectomy.
